Amanullah Khan, a resident of Piru village, wrote a 100-page Urdu book - 'Peeru Gaon: Ek Taaruf' based on how his ancestors were Hindu. He published this book in the year 2000. Reporter of Dainik Jagran met Amanullah Khan and Shahnawaz Khan, residents of Piru, and tried to understand about their history. Both have claimed that in the reign of Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1351-1388, Mathura Chaudhary, resident of Bambai (Kler, Arwal), converted to Islam and became Ghulam Mustafa Khan. In the reign of Aurangzeb, in 1659-1707, Kamal Nayan Singh of Bombay converted to Islam and became Nasiruddin Haider Khan. The descendants of both of them live in Piru today, and they have no hesitation in accepting this fact. "It is said that the truth will remain the truth, so to tell my generations that their ancestors were Hindus, wrote the said book," Amanullah Khan said.
Muslims who converted from the Hindu religion have lower status in the community Initially, it was propagated that there is no racism, casteism in Islam. However, after the death of the Prophet Muhammad, many internal conflicts led to demarcation within the Muslims. As a result, Islam split into major Sunni and Shia sects, which constituted racism and casteism. Muslims belonging to the Sayyid sect placed themselves at the top of the hierarchy of Islam. It is believed that the Muslims of the Sayyid sect are the direct descendants of the Prophet Muhammad. To this day, the Sayyid sect is considered the highest caste in Islam.
Since the formation of Islam, Muslims began to spread its values throughout the world. They converted many ethnic communities to Islam. During the spread, those communities who lost the war against these Muslim invaders were converted to Islam. However, these converts had a lower social status. In the 12th century, Muslim invaders reached the Indian subcontinent and established Islamic rule over the invaded areas. During this rule, many Hindus were forcibly converted to Islam. However, these new converts faced racial segregation. They were separated from foreign origin Muslims. Decedents of Muslim invaders claimed a superior status as they were associated with the conquerors and categorized themselves as Ashraf ("noble"). On the other hand, local converts were given the lowest social status and named Ajlaf. Even today, these Muslims have lower status within the community. So far, several studies have been published which claimed that large numbers of Hindu people were converted to Islam forcibly. Following the knowledge of these studies, some Muslims have begun to reconvert to Hinduism. Recently in May 2020, around 250 Muslims have reconverted to the Hindu religion in Haryana. They said that their ancestors had converted to Islam under the pressure of Muslim ruler Aurangzeb.
