Roberto De Nobili(1577- 1656)
Many Portuguese missionaries followed Vasco da Gama (1498 A.D.) to India to preach Christianity to the Indians. Goa became a centre of Christianity and part of the papal hierarchy in the East. Ignatius Loyola founded Society of Jesus (SJ) in (1542 A.D.). The members of this society were also known as Jesuits.
