Behavior of Muslims over a comment on Prophet Muhammad

Although several cases under section 295 A have been registered and BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma has been suspended, Muslims have resorted to violence and rioting across the country. However, Nupur Sharma's comment on Prophet Muhammad came after a Muslim cleric provoked her by defaming the Hindu deity. Lots of protests and riots have been observed in every district of the country. Muslims have disturbed the whole country over one Nupur Sharma's comment, although she issued an apology. The violence has taken place even after Nupur Sharma withdrew her comments.

Reconversion and death of Birsa Munda

People belonging to all sections have paid tribute to Birsa Munda on his death anniversary dated June 9, 2022. Birsa Munda has been known for his fight against British and Christian missionaries. On his social media profile, Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu wrote, "My tributes to the fearless freedom fighter, 'Dharti Aaba' Birsa Munda on his Punya Tithi today. He fought against the oppressive colonial rule and made tireless efforts to protect the rights of the tribals. His abiding love for motherland continues to inspire every Indian."

Depiction and reality of women in Islam

Since the establishment of Islam, women in Islam have been facing secondary status within the community, although in Shia and Sunni Muslims. Many restrictions have been imposed on Muslim women under Sharia Law. Even Dr BR Ambedkar once said that the Muslim woman is the most helpless person in the world. Dr BR Ambedkar expressed his views on Islam in his book namely ‘Pakistan or the Partition of India’, published by Maharashtra Government. The non-Muslim societies have attained modern values to some extent while reaching the 21st century, but Muslim women have not been yet released from basic religious restrictions. Still the incidences of discrimination have been observed against Muslim women within Islam. Recently, a Muslim cleric reprimanded the organizers for calling a female student on the stage to receive her award.

Revelations of frequent communal clashes in Rajasthan

Rajasthan observed a second violent clash within a month between the Hindu and Muslim communities. Previous violence was observed on the occasion of Ram Navami. The heavy stones were pelted on a procession carried out by the local Hindus in Jodhpur. The same city now observed the clash on the occasion of Eid-Al-Fitr.

Church’s concern over interfaith marriages in Kerala

Churches in Kerala have expressed concern about interfaith marriages, especially the marriages of Christian brides and Muslim grooms. Earlier, Kerala's top Christian leader had called it 'Love Jihad' and had opposed such marriages. The issue was once again raised after Kerala High Court rejected the habeas corpus plea of Joseph Thenmalayil, Father of Joisna Joseph.

Attack on Charlie Hebdo and interpretations of blasphemy in Islam

On January 7, 2015, French Islamist shooters attacked the office of Charlie Hebdo and killed seventeen people for publishing cartoons depicting the Prophet. Some cartoonists, including some of France's most celebrated, were killed in this attack. The incident challenged the freedom of expression and sparked global arguments related to free speech, blasphemy and religion.

Muslims accept that their ancestors were Hindus

In the Aurangabad district in Bihar, some Muslims claimed that their ancestors were Hindus. State Minority Welfare Minister Jama Khan said that his ancestors were Hindus. Similar confessions have started coming from other villages of Bihar as well. Even the Muslims in Piru village of Haspura block of Aurangabad district have admitted that their ancestors were Hindus, Dainik Jagaran reported.
